PMX Industries Converts Production to Conserve City Water
City and People of Cedar Rapids aided by Actions of PMX Industries, Inc.
June 17, 2008--Cedar Rapids, IA
The city of Cedar Rapids, IA is recovering from record flooding this week.
People are gradually being allowed back to their homes, but city water
treatment and sewer remains restricted. PMX Industries, Inc. voluntarily
decided to turn off our city water intake to make more treated drinking water
available to the citizens of the Cedar Rapids area. Portable water treatment
facilities were secured and arrived at the PMX site Monday, June 16th. These
facilities are being routed into PMX"s water system, to create a stand-alone
recirculation loop that will support PMX's production. This has made over 200
gallons/minute of additional fresh water available to the citizens of Cedar
Rapids.
In addition, sewer and waste water treatment facilities of Cedar Rapids have
been dramatically restricted. To further support the recovery efforts, PMX has
voluntarily moved to a zero water discharge plan through use of portable
restroom facilities and through use of stand alone waste water treatment
facilities. These treatment facilities will handle PMX waste water and
recirculate the clean, treated water back to the various work centers.
We hope these and other donation and volunteer activities will speed the
recovery of our community and make a positive impact on the lives of those
affected.
